A group project with 4 other piers.

Cuman Anxiety

Why, why, why, why, why can’t people see me as one of them, why god why?

I was born into a mere and pity cat and not a majestic human being, why, why god, why?

I want to be a human, things are better if I’m a human, why, why god why?

I have all the qualities of a man, I did everything, but lose everything, why god why?

Frozen waterfall, you’re my friend, my identity, my everything, so please don’t leave me.

In the reality, I felt furious as hell,

I've already done my best to conceal my temper.

As destiny has been ruined by the god,

the disintegration of all my determination could not be endured.

This enraged must pay off.

As the cold cottage collapse,

The wind whips and whirls inside, while I cry cold tears,

I feel like I'm surrounded by traps.

I know I’m human! But why am I treated like a cat by my peers?

I will show them! I’m one of them!

Hard to believe the fact that I'm not like one of them

sometimes reality is awful to believe

but after all this time crying my tears running down like a river

it wouldn't help A cat is not a person

reality is cannot be changed

I’m so sad nobody sees me as a person

My tears are always running down my eyes

I want to stay here alone forever

As my sadness grows into my mind

Because it is my comfort zone

Analysis

The first step in analysis of a poem is looking at the point of view of the speaker, while also considering the place in which they lived. In Cuman Anxiety, the speaker is seen as a cat living in a frozen atmosphere, which is grieving towards the loss of his identity while moving through all stages of grieve. An example would be bargaining. On the first line, the speaker asked god, “why can’t people see me as one of them, why god why?” This shows the bargaining stage of grieve, which the cat directly bargains towards a higher power, for a different outcome. The place that cat chooses to live at is also a reflection of its emotion. On the 5th line, the cat begged at a “Frozen waterfall”. This frozen waterfall represents how the cat is sad with no self-identity left. In summary, the speaker in this poem, is in complete grieving of its lost identity.

To grasp the central idea of a poem, one must look closely at the literary devices used. In Cuman anxiety, there are many literary devices used, like alliteration, which are a sequence of words that starts with the same sound and makes the poem have a flowing tone. On the third stanza, the speaker used alliteration, “The wind whips and whirls inside, while I cry cold tears,” This shows the sadness of the cat because of how cold and empty it is when no one believed the cat’s claim that he was a human. From the second stanza onwards, the author used many literary devices like metaphors and personifications. This shows that the poet is comparing a cat with a human using literary devices to make them have a deeper meaning because it helps the poem create moods and tones like sadness and depression. To conclude, the theme of the poem represents sadness.

Finally, one must look at the poem’s style. In the Cuman Anxiety, the author uses a simple yet meaningful syntax. Each stanza is broken into 5 short lines, except for the first one. The explanation for this would be the main idea of the first stanza; bargaining. The longer length of the stanza dictates the fact that the cat values and stayed in the bargaining stage relatively longer than the other stages. Another consequential meaning in the syntax is the reduced amount of punctuation towards the ending of the poem. During the first to third stanza, the author uses normal punctuations, but stopped in the fourth and last stanza. This symbolizes how the cat slowly losses its identity bit by bit throughout its hard time. In conclusion, the syntax of this poem represents the cat’s time grieving about its loss of identity.
